British Airways Comair
Corporate Bully and Common

Traveling & Tourism

I bought a return air ticket to Port Elizabeth, on British Airways. When I cancelled the ticket, due to factors beyond my control, I was told that the entire cost of the ticket was forfeited.

I pointed out to British Airways Customer Service that:
1. In common law this is regarded as.
2. Section 17 of the Consumer Protection Act allows me to cancel a prepaid ticket. They may charge "a reasonable charge for cancellation" - which in my view cannot be the total cost of both flights.
3.They cannot use their Terms and Conditions of Service to legitimise an illegal act.

They did not counter any of the objections I raised, by merely offered to refund ACSA's airport tax portion of the ticket, when I protested. No doubt they will pocket this rather than give it to ACSA, if my complaint to the Consumer Commissioner is unsuccessful, and the fare is not refunded.

You've lost me, my family and my company's business - for a measly R 2600. I'd suggest to other consumers to avoid BA, if your planned trip is in any way uncertain.
