Last night I opted to take a bus to Johannesburg from Durban. Because Citiliner is under Greyhound, I trusted that the quality of the buses will be similar. But to my surprise it wasn't. I had never taken the Citiliner bus before (and i rarely travel by bus) but the minute I got in I was not pleased. My seat was broken, I had to sit slouched for 8 hours (which affected my abdominal condition). The bus was cockroach infested, so disgusting. There were moments where I felt I was in a tractor and that the bus was old. The reason I did not choose Greyhound was because Citiliner was supposed to arrive in JHB at 4:45, this is ample time for me to get ready for work. But it arrived an hour late, defeating my purpose of taking this bus. It also cannot be that by just a mere R50 difference in price, there would be such a disparity in quality between Greyhound and Citiliner. I suggest they charge R150 and accommodate chickens and goats too, that's how terrible the bus was. Prior to my pleasant Greyhound experience earlier in the week, I had not taken a bus in years and had the time to be on the road, only to eventually be disappointed! Never again! I am writing off Greyhound too.
