Unreasonable Behaviou

I called Vodacom to query why my line was blocked. The call centre agent asked me several security questions and I answered all correctly except the one on the Vodacom Account number and I told him I was at work and did not have the account number on me and he could ask me any other security questions to verify my identity. He stubbornly insisted on the account number as if his life depended on it. I have phoned vodacom on several occasions and noone has aksed my account number, which means that it is not the alpha and omega of identy verifcation. I am sure in terms of standing procedures at Vodacom, there are several ways of verifying the identity of a client without necessarily tormenting them. I find the the agent's behaviour rather at odds with the need to balance client security/privacy and providing good client service. Secondly, Vodacom has my authority to debit my account every month and have been doing so all along. Al I want to know is why my account was blocked if I have provided for the debit order.
