Switching to Cell C: What a headache!!!

Telecommunications

Yesterday (2013-04-06) I decided it is time to leave Vodacom and join Cell C. There was a very good offer for an iPhone 5. I decided to port my Vodacom number over to Cell C. I went to Sandton City store where after waiting quite a long while, I finally sorted everything out (well at least at that moment it appeared that). I got my phone and the nano sim card. In the evening my Vodacom sim stopped working and I then inserted my new phone into my phone. This didn't work and had a "NO SERVICE" indication on the phone.
So I went back to the Cell C store today (2013-04-07) where they did a sim swop for me and told me this should be done in the next 12 hours. I phoned the call centre later in the day to confirm the status of the sim swap. After being re-directed for least 20 minutes, I finally got through to agent who advised me that the sim swop would take up to 24 hours.
This is totally unacceptable to me. I traveling on the road tomorrow and now it appear that I won't have a working cell phone with me. This is absolutely pathetic service delivery for me. How can you convince people to switch over the Cell C, if there is no smooth transition?
High disappointed. Arno
