DSL link speed not performing satisfactorily

Internet access speed went down to a crawl 2 months ago (was acceptably running at about 1.8Mbps before). Now Ping response is often more than 1000ms and download speeds vary between zero and 800kbps. The speed recovers somewhat during the night and early mornings but then goes slow again later in the day. My modem syncs up at 1500 kbps in stead of 2048 which it should be. Called service centre numerous times and have registered several fault numbers over the past two months. They tell me to turn my modem off, and then on again. They re-asign ports and whatever, but this never has any effect. They say a technician will see to the problem but nothing happens. I am at the point now where I will terminate this service with Telkom because it seems they are unwilling or incapable of fixing the problem. I simply can not continue paying a considerable amount of money for a service I am not getting. I have now replaced my Internet access with a 3G connection.
