Vodacom
Already refurbished phone broken, customer to pay

Telecommunications

My business contract was ready for upgrade in October 2012, which we ordered a Blackberry 9360. On the 31/12/2012 the phone was handed in for repairs as there were lines developing across the screen. The phone was collected on 11/01/2013. Only when my boss was checking our business phone details with insurance did we notice it was a refurbished unit and not my original phone that was handed in. On the 06/03/2013 the REFURBISHED unit was handed in for repairs as the whole charging port came out with the charger plug. Vodacom then calls on 12/03/2013 to say that we now need to pay over R1800 to fix the charging port. My upgrade is only 5months old and the REBURSHED phone was not even 2months old and needed repairs. Vodacom is saying that under Blackberry's terms and conditions we have to pay for the phone to be fixed, a phone that is only a couple of weeks old and already a REBURBISHED phone, it could've had a problem with the charging port before I got it! And the "team leader" at the call centre advised the only "solution" would be to claim from our insurance for their problem even though we are still paying for a NEW handset with our contract every month!!
