3 Days to Activate SIM Card???

I upgraded my phone (and did a SIM swop to the new micro SIM) on Friday morning. I was told that activation will take about two hours.

On Saturday morning, my SIM card was still not active, so I went to the nearest MTN, who told me that there was an error with my activation, and they re-initiated the activation. Once again I was told to allow 2 hours (as per the website "The new SIM Swap process will allow up to 2 hours to activate"). On Saturday evening I phoned 808, who said that I should allow up to 24 hours. On Sunday morning I phoned 808 for a 2nd time, and they said they have escalated this.

For a third time on Sunday afternoon I phoned 808, and the call centre consultant informed me that activations are only done during normal business hours, so I should wait until Monday.

The majority of people do upgrades on Weekends, and this is then the only time for most of us to sync on-line accounts and configure the new phone etc.

How is it that MTN, first of all, do not inform people about the "activation hours over weekends" (even though I upgraded on Friday already), and secondly allow for an upgrade to take 3 Days, while you document a turn-around time of 2 hours???
