Mtn
MTN on GPRS, all other networks on 3G

Telecommunications

Hi, Early last year, two weeks after signing a new Mtn 2 year data contract, Vodacom upgraded to 3G, and Cell C is now also on 3G. Mtn for the last three days has been on GPRS but is normally on 2G, and very very unreliable. The Mtn call centre can't help me and will not put me through to somebody who knows what is going on. To send this complaint I am using Vodacom, which means that I am paying twice to use the internet. Is there anyone at Mtn who knows when our tower is going to be upgraded? It might be too late for Mtn as Vodacom has already blanketed our rural area with 3G. Perhaps they are concentating on the introduction of 4G in urban atreas to the detriment of rural areas. It is a pity because Mtn was the pioneer in this area and I have been with them for almost twenty years. Recently the service has deteriorated to the point that if there is a power failure Mtn goes off while all other networks remain in operation. Perhaps they should just transfer us to Vodacom free of charge.
