15 year client treated with total abandonment

I've been a good paying individual client of mtn since 1998 being 15 years. my average spend has always been relatively high and is currently over R2, 500 per month.

I was a "Yellow Genie" client of Mtn (preferred client) and was told by Mtn 4 months ago that I was due for my annual upgrade. Yellow Genie clients get an upgrade every 12 months. I didn't rush for my upgrade even though it was available to me because I didn't need it at the time.

a week ago, my blackberry started giving me problems so i went to mtn to collect my upgrade which i understood had been available to me for the last 4 months. they then told me that they had discontinued the Yellow Genie program and accordingly, i was no longer eligible for the upgrade. i explained that my upgrade had been available to me and they couldn't now take it away to which they responded that they had sent out correspondence that the Yellow Genie program had been discontinued and that i should show proof that i had an upgrade due.

when i threatened to migrate to vodacom they informed me of the early termination charges.

15 years and a lot of money later and they couldn't give a about retaining me as a fantastic client
