Upgrading Nightmare

Telecommunications

I upgraded to a top-up 400 and received a Sony Xperia P.

The GPS did not work, the battery went from fully charged to flat in only 30 minutes.

I purchased the phone in Stellenbosch and was told by Vodacom that I can return the phone to any Vodacom outlet for an out of the box failure (OBF).

I took my phone to 3 Vodacom outlets in Cape Town who all rejected me, thus I was forced to drive to Stellenbosch.

3 weeks later, having not received any response from their side, I had to contact them to find out what was going on. The Manager told me that the technician made an adjustment to the phone but she could not tell me what he did.
According to the Contract, if the phone is returned for an OBF within 7 days after purchase, they should give you a new phone.

When the Assistant and I took the phone out of the box the small flap that covers the sim-slot was broken off, the screen guard was severely scratched and the one corner was lifted up. Also, the data cable was not in the box.

I requested a new phone, but was told that it will be sent away so that the flap can be repaired.

Due to Vodacom's lacklustre service I have now been without my phone for more than a month.
