Cell C
Alledge water damage to cell phone

Telecommunications

I bought a Blackberry 9300 on 31 Aug 2012 from Makro Wonderboom on a Cell C contract. The phone started giving problems in Nov 2012 and I had to replace the cimm card at that stage. In December the phne started acting up and I gave the phone in at Makro Wonderboom. They then send the phone to Cell C. After three weeks and numerous calls I was told that the phone had water damage and thus not repairable. I even got a report stating that with VISUAL inspection by two technicians they found the phone uneconomical to fix and I have to buy/rent/lend another phone as the contract is still valid and ongoing. At home I replaced the battery that was in my possesion and the phone worked. There was a line on the screen but the phone did work. My wife then took the phone to another company and they replace the screen etc for R200.00. Whalah the phone is as good as new.
My question now is how can CELL C do a visual inspection and say the phone is not repairable if they do not even test the phone.
They only give one year warranty as compared to a two year warranty by other competitors. What is their warranty worth if we get such bad service and gets bulldusted with such reports

Company: Cell C
Country: South Africa
City: Makro Wonderboom branch
