So called liquid damage!!!

My boyfriend took his BLACKBERRY in for repairs at the Midrand repairs, because they keypad was not working and the told him that the phone is liquid damage because of sweat... i mean how is that possible. and to make it worse the charged him R5000 to repair the phone... when he spoke to the assistant manager he told him that there is nothing that he can do... i mean . if they are not going to sort out this problem he is taking elsewhere. whats amazing is that the LIQUID INDICATOR is white, because when the phone is liquid damaged the indicator turns RED. so can someone please explain to me how that the phone is liquid damaged.
