We have received a bill of close to R 30 000 which was incurred after the cellphone of my partner was.

According to Nashua, we are responsible to pay the bill even though it is clear that the phone was not abused by us. According to the call centre agent, there seem to be wide spread out there in which people people charge airtime to SIMs/phones.

I was informed that Nashua had hard looked the phone on the same day that the phone disappeared. How is it then possible that billing continued even though the phone was locked. It seems to me that Nashua's systems have failed here.

Since these are common, it is Nashua's duty as part of its credit and risk management to put preventive measures into place. In other words Nashua cannot keep the end user liable if it does not perform its own duties.

Given the fact that these are common, I suggest that people refrain from taking out contracts and instead use prepaid, which protects them from such large bills
