Usage increasing while system is down

To whom it may concern,
I received my new phone on 08/02/2012.
This morning I saw that my usage was R9.24. This was understandable given that iMessage sends international sms's to register the phone.
My usage is now at R27.11, with iMessage switched off, data switched off, etc etc. I still have data bundles, free minutes and sms's left and therefore should not be charged any additional usage. At the moment my sim card is out of the phone and yet it is still increasing usage.
I spoke to 3 consultants at Nashua, and they were extremely willing to help with the last one blocking my account to limit the damage.
According to them the system is offline and therefore they cant see whats going on.
Surely there is something wrong here and with my sim card not even in the phone, this is surely not my fault and I therefore strongly feel that it is unfair to bill me for some system errors.
Please give me feedback of whats going on, as I am not going to pay for something I'm not using.
