Sony xperia -z waterresistant (not true)

I've had my Sony xperia-z for almost a year. A camera fault stating camera not available appears when I want to use it. I have sent it to vodacom repair center in Menlyn, with the job-card stating please check camera fault and seals for serviceability. I have received back the phone yesterday stating BER, liquid damage. Report said nothing of the seals being check. All answer I received was " it is liquid damage". The warrentee don't cover liquid damage. How can you advertise then its water resistant if its not.
