Cheating a Pensioner!

Vodacom contacted my mother who is a pensioner, assuring her that because she has been such a loyal customer (she has been with them since 1996), they want to give her a phone for free - no strings attached. Initially she was not interested but the lady insisted telling her that if she does not want it, she can take it back to any Vodacom shop within 7 days. She got the phone (0713832271), did not really want it and took it to a Vodacom shop who did not want to take it back. The lady kept calling her asking why she does not use the phone - stating it is excellent for Internet etc. I took it to Vodacom to assist setting the Internnet connections etc. but my mom still does not use it. Only today we discovered that it is a contract??? which she never signed and it appears to be binding for two years - at R125 per month - a lot for a pensioner! I am disgusted at this telemarketing aimed at fooling old people - very very bad for Vodacom's image!!!
