LTE Service requires a new sim which I have to pay

Telecommunications

I've had an iPhone 5 for about a year now. In Jan 2013, when I received the phone, I was told that I needed to do a sim swap because the new iPhone used a new nano sim. I had to pay extra for this ( /- R120).

I recently discovered that I have LTE service in my area. I then phoned MTN to activate the service, only to find out that I now need to do a sim swap again, which now comes with a R140 price tag. This is ridiculous. How come they didn't give the correct sim to begin with. Surely they knew that most (if not all) phones that use a nano sim have LTE capability.

I am really disappointed in the level of service I've been receiving from MTN recently. Their network has deteriorated and they customer service department is in shambles. Luckily with the new MTR, alternative service providers are looking much more attractive. Might decide to go else where once my contract term is over.
