In November 2012 I discovered that money was being debited from my account by MTN. I have never had an MTN contract. I reported this incident to MTN and signed an affidavit giving details of the transaction and requesting a refund. Over 2 months later I have still not been refunded. Despite the best efforts of the young lady at their Hillcrest branch to sort out the problem, the powers that be keep requesting further documentation, the latest being that my husband must sign an affidavit to say that the account from which the money was originally deducted is his account and that they have permission to transfer my money back into this account. If MTN had asked for such detailed information from the person who opened the contract in my name we would not be in this position in the first place. I am very angry and frustrated that a company can allow such corruption to go unchecked. We all know the amount of documentation that is required to open a contract with any provider so it is unbelievable to me that so many people who work for the KZN dept of education have been defrauded in this way. I have tried in vain to contact the regional manager.
