I took out a contract with MTN about a year ago for a Blackberry device. The phone's memory was faulty. I tried to take the phone in for repairs but the store I took it to told me that they did not have any courtesy phones and I would therefore have to live without a phone, which I could not do. I kept the phone even though it had that problem and used only the internal memory. The device cannot be charged. I took the phone in for repairs as now I could not use it completely and the store in Stellenbosch took it in. I was told that it would take 2 weeks before it got back. After that time, I went to the store and was told that it would cost me 75% of the cost of the phone to repair it. I took the handset back but did not understand how is it me who will be paying for the repairs as surely, these were defects that arose from the handset being faulty and not defects that arose because of my negligence. I called MTN customer care to enquire about this and sure enough, the story had changed. Now the story was, when the phone was t taken in by the technicians, something fell out of it and did not even look at it. I am shocked at the way MTN handled this, it is shocking!
