Mtn
MTN and misleading the consume

Telecommunications

My husband and I went to MTN oakfields and enquired about data packages for router wifi. We were given the yellow trader and the deals were explained to us. The 18gig day/18gig night package was what we decided on, but with the router it was R899 per month. We went for the package for R449 own rooter. Applied and approved. We purchased router for R1800. When we wanted to collect, we were informed that their were a problem with the numbers, they will come back to us. Today we were informed our R849 package is ready. what a suprise. I told Mariet that she is mistaken, we applied for the R449 package. She replied that it was a misprint. I was obviously very upset. Read the small print, MTN can change the prices. Now as a consumer I have spend R1800 after getting misleading, and deceptive information. I did not budget for R899 a month. What now??? The consumer act clearly prohibit false, misleading marketing and the supplier must not require a consumer to pay a higher price than advertised price for those goods or services. Does MTN not abide by the consumer act?? What now?? Mariete was very nice, but sorry, MTN changed the price afterwards and this is what you must pay.
