First the bad:
I have to move my service from one address to another, and was told that I have to move my ADSL line back to Telkom before raising this request. I requested my ISP to do that, and Telkom's first trick was to simply downgrade my line to a normal telephony line, instead of taking the ADSL line back.

A support call resulted in them trying to fix this, but their next trick was to cross my lines, so I ended up with someone else's line instead.

When I pointed this out to them, they went back to the exchange (the next day) and in the attempt to fix their mess, they ended up killing my line totally, not even a dial tone.

After a total of 7 hours on the phone with their 10210 number, and a visit to a telkom direct store, I was given the number of a Ferdie Hanekom at Telkom (by one of the other clients in line at Telkom Direct Store). I phoned him, explained my problem, and he had a technician dispatched to my house in less than 24 hours to test and fix it. He followed up with a call to ensure that my problem was resolved.

Despite the total incompetence in the majority of Telkom, it is nice to know that people like Ferdie still exist.
