Vodacom cannt help if you cant receive sms'es

In the past I had good experiences with Vodacom network and service levels so I decided to port my number to Vodacom. Luckily I was cautious, and decided to move on prepaid to test their network and service.
From the time I ported, I was unable to receive sms'es from MTN numbers. I called Vodacom today to seek help and was told my message centre number was incorrect. So I changed it, restarted my phone and tried again but still no luck.
I called Vodacom and the agent put me through to the team leader Ismail. Ismail said there is no problem with the sim card so there is nothing they can do. I insisted that I am a Vodacom customer so they must find out what the problem is and fix it. He said if I can receive sms'es from other networks there is nothing they can do and I may contact MTN if I want. I repeated that I am not and MTN customer and cannot contact them - Vodacom should do that and sort out all their interconnect agreements and settings. He still said no.
I told him that in the past the only way I got help from Vodacom was via a Hellopeter and I would do that again. He said I should go ahead - so Vodacom please fix...
