Vodacom
Unable to Upgrade

Telecommunications

I have had a contract with Vodacom for probably 15-17 years. In that time I have missed one debit order (which I phoned and advised them about) and which I then paid double as promised. That was in October.
My upgrade was due on 13/12/2013. I went in today to upgrade and was advised, quite loudly in the vodashop, that I would have to pay for the handset as I wasn't allowed credit. When I asked the lady why, she said because my debit order had been returned. I phoned customer care and spoke to Matthews, who advised that I can wait three months and then 'try' again. Before I phoned customer care, I received another two SMSs saying that my upgrade is due!!! You should try to synchronise the messages you send out. One bounced debit order in so many years and immediately that's it! I am on leave at the moment, it doesn't suit me to upgrade in 3 months' time. If I am unable to upgrade now, please take this email as notice to cancel my contract.
Does loyalty count for nothing any more? This has left a really bad taste in my mouth. With all the competition out there now, you would think Vodacom would be more interested in keeping there customers, than driving them away.
