Unrealistic promise of delivery

I entered my details on the Vodacom website to be contacted when the iPhone 5s would be available. I received this call on Wednesday evening (13/11) (from number: 082 178 4400). The woman on the phone made it clear that I would receive my phone today - 15 November (she did also mention that there is a small possibility that it will only be Monday). I phoned many vodacom numbers to follow up on the delivery to which I have been informed that this delivery will not happen today (and clearly it won't happen Monday either).

Why do your online sales employees make promises this large and there is no realistic way to keep to it?

I do not have a lot of nice things to say about you as a service provider (doubt I'll get better service else where - it is a problem this country's people have adopted with regards to providing a service)

Please note that I am not the account holder: my father is, but i am the one expecting delivery of this phone
