Corrupt relationship with Smartcall technology

On 29/01/2013 I received my monthly statement from MTN. I've got 2 business contracts with MTN. There was an amount of R543.74 invoiced for 'content charge'. I called MTN and demanded an explanation. They said it was for a subscription service from Smartcall technology solutions. I explained to them that this was a phone that my wife uses and that she denied subscribing to this so called service. They suggested that I call Smartcall to stop the service. This I did immediately.

After some research on the internet it became very clear that this company, Smartcall, takes a lot of money from unsuspecting consumers. MTN facilitates this by taking the consumers money on behalf of Smartcall. Almost all of the complaints lodged on WASPA was ruled in favour of the complainants. WASPA then imposes a fine on the company but still lets them trade. A fine of R25000 is nothing compared to the thousands they make from their. I strongly feel that this is a corrupt relationship between MTN and Smartcall. MTN should not have the right to pay a third party on my behalf without my written consent.
