Cell C Charging Excessive Amounts For Data Usage

Last month I became aware of a problem with my cellphone whereby data was being used when I was not in fact using any (I had no apps open, was not on the internet etc). I duly called Cell C Customer Service on 17 September 2013 to enquire as to why my data was being used. I was on the phone to customer services for in excess of an hour explaining the problem. The only response I got from the technical department was that "my phone was using data." Nevertheless, they could not resolve the problem and I was left to wait for my phone to reach its limit of R1200.00 and now have been billed for this data usage.

I queried this and all that I received was an sms informing me that the data usage was correct. Nothing more. No one helped me and my concern was not taken seriously by Cell C. I doubt a proper investigation even occured. Further Cell C indicated that they cannot disclose the usage of my data to me. This is nonsensical as I should be able to know what it is that I am being billed for - especially when it is obscenely high and i am not using my phone.

Yet another disappointing experience with Cell C
