Cell C store refuses to refund a product

I bought a Giga 200 prepaid bundle on Monday from the Cell C shop in Lakeside Mall in Benoni. As I am a high data user this package seemed perfect. After returning home and inserting the sim into my modem, I noticed that I could only get EDGE connection speed at best, which was troubling as I have an 8ta sim which runs at HSPA perfectly. I then phoned the Cell C technical department to address this issue and they confirmed that in my specific area of residence there is no 3G coverage.
I went on to phone the outlet to request a refund on this product, as with no proper service here it is absolutely useless to me. The response I got from both the salesman and the manager was less than satisfying to say the least. After being very rude and unprofessional with me, they told me that it was my job to have told them where I reside and what I was going to use the data for. Seriously? For someone who just bought a R1800 package from you, this is how you treat them? A coverage check is supposed to be done in store BEFORE selling it to the customer, and is NOT the customer's job.

Since then I have lodged a complaint, but if the matter is not resolved soon I will have to take further steps.
