Vodacom
Always "water damage"

Telecommunications

I have booked in my cellphone Blackberry Bold 9790, at Eastgate Vodarepair shop on 27 Sept 2013, job nr 9235294. The handset was then forwarded to the advanced repair centre in Midrand. I received a quote for R2900. The cause being described as "water damage". I contacted my insurance company who gladly will replace the handset. My concern now is that I had a query regarding the "water damage". I reported to the escalations dept that I am not happy with the finding as it is due to normal wear and tear, and not deliberate damage to the phone. If that is the case, it is due to poor manufacturing of the handset. The examples of the symptoms such as hand cream, perfume, perspiration - is normal everyday circumstances which no individual can eliminate as it is part of nature. Should one stop living when purchasing a phone?? The warranty seldom apply as this "excuse" are being used to get out of the warranty, which is very unfair. Due to this finding I have to pay an extra access for the replacement of the phone.. I was offered "discount on exchange" on an e mail dated Monday 14 October. Can Vodacom fill in the access to be paid for the replacement?
