Exhorbitant charges!!!

Telecommunications

Got my new contract Samsung Galaxy S4 from MTN Summerstrand at 5.00pm on 30 September 2013.
Checked my account when I got home and saw that i already owe MTN more than R400, I thought it must be the upcoming mothly subscription. Taking the MTN salesman's advice, i fiddled with my phone in order to drain the battery power before the 8 hour charge. During this time I updated the software on the phone (which should actually be done before handing over to a customer), the battery went flat and I put the phone on charge.
This morning (1 October) just before 8.00am, I got a message from MTN saying my account has been suspended because I exceeded my credit limit!! I owe them R1461.42!!
I have been billed R 917.02 for using 614.246 MB while updating software! While it only costs R149 for 1 gigabyte of data! How does that work!? None of the consultants can answer that question and also not the salesman who gave me the phone. I also got a printout of the charges and saw that my balance was actually R1650.98 after only 12 hours of having my phone, and not even having made a single call, this must be the most expensive contract ever! also double billed for subscription and other things!
