Vodacom
Policy on handsets is obsolete

Telecommunications

I have a longstanding contract with Vodacom which is due for an upgrade; something which Vodacom continues to advise me by means of repeated sms messages.

As I spend longer periods in Dubai, I also need a Dubai mobile number. A handset with dual SIM capability would work just fine to ensure that I do not need to run around with two handsets, or that I do not need to switch between SIM cards whenever I get to the airport

On 20 Sep, I visited the Vodacom shop in Menlyn Pretoria and was assisted very competently.

Unfortunately, Vodacom has a very clear policy, according to the sales lady. As far as Vodacom contracts are concerned, dual sim handsets doesn't even exist and no option exist to upgrade my current contract to one where a dual sim handset can be used, notwithstanding the fact that various manufacturers supply these handsets. The sales lady just smiled and told me "That's the RULE"

I am particularly upset with this Vodacom policy that totally disregards the development of dual SIM handsets. You are not helping your customers with such a dark-aged policy.
