I had a R50pm controlchat contract (10310120309834768019) which commennced on 27 April 2012. Cell C subsequently informed me via sms that w.e.f. 1 August 2012 they would no longer be processing the monthly debit order and I would need to purchase airtime via an alternative source i.e conversion to prepaid. Accordingly I purchased my airtime mainly online via an account I have with Standard Bank.
In the meantime I have been endeavouring to resolve a seperate issue which arose in April 2013 relating to a cancelled Cell C get it contract. I specifically sought clarification on how a arrears amount of R89 had increased to in excess of R600 in a matter of a few months.
Yesterday I was informed via email that the arrears sitution was due to non payment of the monthly R50 premiums since August 2012. I find it totally astounding that I am now been held liable for the non payment of instalments, the cancellation of which was initiated by Cell C. This is the first time I have been made aware of this problem. My phone has also been permanently blocked since July 2013 a full 12 months after the controlchat contract ceased to exist.
