WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF CELLPHONE INSURANCE

My insured cellphone is not switching on, I took it in for repair at the nearest store they booked it in and kept it for 21 days, only to bring it back to me and tell me it is out of warranty, which surprised me cause I was under the impression that the insurance in sorting it out since I am paying every month, I took my dead phone back home but I decided I have to take it back again since I am paying my insurance monthly, I was told they can book it in for repair again but chances are they will return it back not repaired because apparently its beyond repair, I was told its warranty issue before, I was told I must write affidavit that its beyond repair, since when I am a technician to state that a phone is beyond repair only the repair department know that, I was not given anything to support that statement, I will be lying if I write that kind of affidavit, I took the phone back home with as I cannot risk taking it for repair when I am told they are going to send it back again, now I am sitting with a dead phone that I am paying for every month insurance included. Tell me how do I handle this kind of situation I am really confused on what to do.
