Unethical billing

I recently signed up for contracts for an internet package. The first bill included R543.62 for packet switched data calls - apparently it's a data overage. However, I was never informed that I was signing up for an open line. One assumes that it would be a capped account as the deal states 3GB 2GB.
If I was informed that I had to manage the data and that it was an open line, the mistake would have been mine and there would be no problem, but that was not the case...
- No mention in the contracts, from the consultants, in the promotional material.
- No message to inform me that I was nearing the limit.
- No information about what the pro rata data would be.
- No information about how to check my balance.
- No mention of the SIM card in the modem's cell phone number for me to check my balance.
I went to the branch where I was told they couldn't help me and that I should phone 808, where they told me they couldn't help me and that I should go to the branch.
It is illogical that I should be further inconvenienced by MTN's mistake - please credit my account as soon as possible.
This is either a purposeful and unethical ploy to increase revenue for MTN or a terrible oversight.
