Loose Airtime when contract Ends? I Paid for it!

Now i have been told, should i end my contract and migrate to pre paid, i must use all airtime, bundles and smsses or it will be lost. I PAID for it, how can MTN just take it??? This should be carried over as I am still with the MTN network. Where in the contract does it state this???
