Being charged R1800 for phone still under warranty

Telecommunications

I took my Blackberry 9380 to Vodaworld on the 12th August 2013 for repairs. The phone had a problem of continously restarting itself. The phone is still well under the 2-year warranty.
On the 22nd August 2013, I received a call from the contact centre that the phone cannot be repaired and may only be replaced. I was then told that the phone could not be replaced free of charge as the phone had "drop marks". I was told the only option was to pay R1800 to get a replacement phone.

I find this really unfair and acceptable. My contract is due for renewal in April 2014. I will find it hard to renew my contract with Vodacom after the service I received.
