Debit order not going through

I took out a contract with Autopage December 2012. I asked them to make my debit order the 1st of every month. Early January 2013 a lady called from Autopage to ensure if I'm happy with the service. Up until then I was. Yesterday I received sms from Autopage that if I do not settle my account immediately I will be disconnected, and should I not do that I will be charged R49 re-connection fee. I phoned the call center immediately. The consultant's reaction was that there's a problem with my bank and I need to take it up with them. After some time she realized that they missed a number on my bank account. I made her promise that the debit order will go off my account immediately. It didn't. Later the afternoon I was disconnected. Went into a branch and they couldn't assist me. Now my credit record will be influenced by Autopage's stupidity and that is my main concern as I'm buying a house. Why do they not call when they see a debit order is not going off the specified account? It is not my duty to follow up with them if they have the correct details. They have 3 months bank statements from me. They must double check. This is unacceptable!!!
