Fernwood Newlands

Newlands Fernwood is one of the oldest suburbs in Cape Town. Its wet, the cables are incredibly old and today the area is known for its trees and seeing Telkom vans parked on its street corners daily.

The service along boshof avenue is none existent - there is nothing the technicians can do except open the cables points keep trying to dry them out and hope things will improve. What is disgusting is that telkom charges many of the residences here for "fastest" adsl when the service can only deliver 1mbit at best. On a good day you might hit 2 maybe 3 mbit but its pathetic as a service offering.

What is even more depressing is that there is a fibre box that services half the area not even 400 meters from the problem area.

To telkom - either fix the problem or stop telling people they can get 6mbit, when they cannot even get 1.5.
