MTN Roaming not possible in Indonesia

I have enabled international SMS roaming with MTN. It worked (not well but it worked in Maldives and Thailand). Now in Bali it doesn't work (Bali is in Indonesia). I have been told to shut it down, restart, remove SIM cards, change networks manually, etc etc etc none of which solves any problems at all. After all of the emails, lack of understanding, bad grammar and apparently they believe that Thailand and Bali is in Malaysia.. I have given up, especially when they have now told me to enable phone roaming and to sign a whole bunch of forms and send copies of my ID etc (we have all heard the billing nightmares of roaming / data issues, so that won't happen). MTN... people use SMS roaming to get OTP passwords (that's a "one time password") so that they can log in and do their banking (which I can't do now). To top it all off my girlfriend who is on another network has not had any problems with her SMS roaming. I don't for one minute believe that MTN offers international roaming that is of any use and it is certainly not up to standard with other operators in South Africa.
Pathetic Service.
P.S. If you are trying to phone me, please read this again slowly.
