My husband had his cell registered on my acct as a separate no. Their company wanted all their phones on MTN & we started talking to Vodacom about porting. They informed us that his no is still under contract and that we would incur penalties if we cancel earlier. Understood & we waited for the end of the contract to give instructions to port. Checking my account at a later stage I found an unknown no on my account, where a regular monthly amount was accumulating.

On investigation Hartbeespoort told me that because we did not specifically say 'CANCEL' when we ported, they created a ghost no & continued the old contract on the ghost no. A ghost no does not really exist, they cannot give you the sim and they cannot transfer the airtime to your other no's.

Now please help me ..why would I want to port but keep and pay for ghost no at the same time. Absolutely ridiculous. I have been trying since Dec to get this resolved/ refunded. Promises of phone back etc/ staff changes / repeating the story and no results.
How on earth can you assume that porting is not cancelling?
How on earth can you create a ghost and let an end of term, ported contract run against that?
