Install ADSL on existing service

I applied for the ADSL line and paid the R700 deposit on the 20th July and nothing has happened since. I have repeatedly phone Telkom and speak to a different person every time who give a different story i.e. either can't see the payment, mark job as complete, escalate the job but nothing is on the system to show this.
It is clear that these people do not know what they are doing and confusion rains in that department.
All I want is the installation of the ADSL line and modem is this to much to ask?
