Billed for BIS on an iPhone contract

Telecommunications

I upgraded from a Blackberry to an iPhone in February of this year. I recently noticed on my statement that I am still being billed for BIS.

When I called 808 to query this I was told that you have to request BIS to be cancelled or you will continue to be charged for it. I was then told that I would have to go to the store at which I upgraded in order to query this further. I went to the store and was subsequently told "there is no way you will be refunded for this'.

Surely it goes without saying that you should inform a customer of something like this - otherwise how are we to do anything but assume that all services specific only to a Blackberry will fall away when we change brands? If I'm not made aware of this by the person doing my upgrade is it unfounded to assume that MTN will not continue to charge me for a service only functions on Blackberry? Marissa - who did my upgrade - should have told me this and I would've confirmed that I did not want the service, but I was not given this chance and now am told by your uninterested store consultant - Margaret, that it's my own fault.

I would appreciate MTN taking responsibility for this error and refunding these charges.
