Vodacom
Liquid damage = BER

Telecommunications

On 27 June 2013 my Blackberry 9300 became a Deadberry after using it for almost 18 months. I took the phone to Vodacomworld in Midrand hoping for quick service. On 2 July 2013 after calling the call centre myself I was informed that the phone is ready for collection. When I got there I was told the phone was BER due to liquid damage but the damage could not be shown to me. I raised a query via their website and after about a week they realized that the phone was with me and not them. I took the phoned back and it was escalated to the Advanced Repair Centre. They actually sent me a photo indicating corrosion inside the phone. I also spoke to a Vulikile who was very vague in explaining the causes of liquid damage. I know the phone was never submerged in water, so where did the liquid come from. I have been a Vodacom customer for more than 15 years and this made me feel much less than a loyal satisfied customer. I now either have to buy a new phone or accept a refurbished one with a 3 month warranty.By the way I am supposed to upgrade at the end of September 2013. 15 Emails have already been used to try to resolve this matter to no avail. Please help!
