MTN wants me to pay for damages they caused

My brother booked a Samsung Tablet to have the mic/speaker repaired on 22/02/2013.
While being booked, the phone condition was fair (as per service repair serial number 1-6645404456).
Phone was sent to repair centre and rejected for having physical damage (cracked screen which was not cracked upon booking).
MTN then advised me to investigate on my own and after providing my findings on 08/07/2013, I have been ignored till date.
