Complaint about Internet service charges and request for a refund.

On the 15th of May and on the 21st of May I logged two queries with Cell C regarding internet charges and a subscription which appeared on my billing statement for the months of April, May and June. The manager at Cell C Tygervalley, Anton, informed me that Cell C accepted on good faith that a company called Opera Interactive had my permission, for them to receive money deducted by Cell C and passed on to them. When I asked when I had given Cell C permission to do that, Anton said the Cell C had acted on "good faith". I had not even heard about this company. I asked for a refund or an explanation. I was told that the internet charges would be investigated and the money deducted on behalf of the third party was now gone, and I would have to get it back from Opera Interactive.

I have yet to hear from Cell C regarding either query and I am also being penalised for refusing to pay them until my query is resolved, despite Anton assuring me that Cell C does not levy a R70 "memo" fee. He said it must be my bank. Lol.

So the me the "little guy" stands no chance against Cell C "unilaterally abusing my bank account.
