Vodacom
Not being able to trace phones

Telecommunications

I had 2 phones from me on 08/07/2013 and called into Vodacom to report this and have the phones blacklisted. I enquired about tracing the phone, but all the agents I spoke to said the service was not offered. I fnd it appalling that a service provider does not offer the service, full well knowing that criminals can have phones 'unblacklisted' and someone else will now have the use of a phone that I'm contractually bound to pay off. I know the service is available and know of an incident where through Vodacom's assistance a phone was recovered. Surely Vodacom is able to provide detail of SIM cards that are inserted to phone via a link to the IMEi no. My question to Vodacom is, why are you protecting the identity of a person who should probably be aware that they are buying goods and in fact inconveniencing your loyal customers. Surely the different service providers should collaborate with each other and help fight this sort of crime.By not doing this, service providers are encouraging this type of crime. I will appreciate it if Vodacom can use the technology at their disposal to actually offer teir clients this service and be a responsible corporate.
