No picking up of unwanted phone

After receiving my phone from cell C Direct, I discovered they have no data reception where I work, despite their coverage map claiming they do. I immediately cancelled the contract as work is where I spend 80% of my time. Cell C Direct informed me that they would need to pick up the phone in order for me to cancel the contract. This was on the 6'th on June.
Now on the 3'rd of July they have still not picked up the phone and tell me, that there is no place I can drop it off, I phone them on a daily basis, and they keep blaming the courier. But Cell C is still unable to cancel the contract as they keep telling me they need to pick up the phone, which they are not doing.
Despite several promises from call center agents to be phoned back, I was not called back once.
I don't know what else I can do.
