Shocking service from Accounts department

I was due for an upgrade on my phone in December 2012 but my contract expired in March 2013. So due to the fact that I have an Apple iPhone I decided to get an iPad instead. I notified Vodacom of my cancellation of my service for my iPhone in due course and started paying for my iPad contract.
I never ever received a billing for my iPad as well as notification that the account was in arrears.
All of a sudden yesterday I am told that my iPad sim card has been deleted.
I have paid all my accounts up to date and now they say I have to re activate the card and get a new sim and pay a further R280.00
Nobody from Vodacom has ever contacted me, I have received no sms or calls to this effect. I think after being a customer for nearly 20 years their service. I would never recommend them to anyone.
