No response to line failure

Raised service request one week ago ref 260CWZ280513 but no response from Telkom. The line is completely dead but the only communication I have had from Telkom is the bill. Not sure what I am supposed to be paying for because I can't use the service. My security system is also compromised by this failure. If there was an alternative supplier for a land-line I would make use of it and cancel the Telkom contract.
I changed from ADSL for Internet access 6 months ago due to poor quality of the signal. Unfortunately I chose 8ta as alternative, which has been down for periods of up to one month at a time. Can anybody recommend a reliable alternative to Telkom/8ta?
