Mobile number portability - A FORM OF?

Telecommunications

My wife recently ported from MTN to Cell C. Before porting, her MTN "Pay As You Go" account was recharged with R200.00, the balance in her account at porting stage being about R150.00. On its "Mobile number portability - FAQ" webpage, MTN states: "Q: If I port my number will I lose any of my free minutes/airtime, voicemail etc? A: Yes; any unused air time, voicemail messages etc will be lost." My interpretation is that CASH PAID UPFRONT (proof of purchase is available on my bank statement) on a "Pay as You Go" system does NOT constitute "FREE minutes/airtime"!!! MTN has a record of the upfront purchase and has not been prejudicced in any way - in fact, they have accrued interest on the money for services not rendered. I believe ALL the cellphone networks are guilty in this respect.
