MADE TO PAY FOR YOUR MISTAKE??

In September 2010 I joined Planet Fitness in Bedfordview. My wrong personal information was taken down when applying for the contract: wrong banking details, physical address, email address etc... 6 months later, Saya Recoveries contacted me stating my account was in arrears. (after many phone calls, I realised it was due to Planet Fitness admin department inputting incorrect banking details). I gave them the correct banking details telephonically, settled the amount owed and was told I could cancel my contract via email. The email address supplied on my contract for cancellations was ALSO incorrect. I had not received any contact from the gym nor was any money being debited off my account (and so I assumed my account was cancelled) until September 2012, (to this day I had received absolutely no contact from Planet Fitness, not a single statement) whereby I was informed by the Accounts Department that I owed R5800 for a mistake that was not my own. I have now been handed over and threatened with legal action. I will be taking further legal action and referring this incident to ICASA as well. I have an account with another gym (joined 2 years ago) and it has never been in arrears.
